Dear Turkish citizens,

Esteemed members of the Turkish community in Australia,

Dear Australian friends,

It is an honour for me to have assumed my duties as the Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye in Melbourne as of October 2026.

The jurisdiction of our Consulate General, which has been serving since the year 1973, covers not only the State of Victoria, but also Western Australia, South Australia and Tasmania.

In this region of the world, which is located far from our homeland, our utmost priority is to provide you with the highest standard of consular services and protection, and to make every effort to safeguard the rights and interests of our natural and legal persons in the most effective manner. We will also continue our efforts to further strengthen the economic, cultural, scientific and social ties between Türkiye and our Consular district.

We take great pride in the standing the Turkish community in Australia has attained over many years, as well as in its many achievements.

Throughout my tenure, together with all my colleagues, including our Attaché offices, we will always be by your side and at your service. Our doors at the Consulate General will always be open to you.

I believe your valuable views, observations and suggestions will also provide valuable guidance for our work.

I look forward to meeting with you on various occasions. On behalf of myself and all my colleagues, I extend my sincere respects and best wishes to you all.

Barış Saygın

Consul General
