Announcement Regarding Updated Precautions for Travelers Arriving in Turkey from Abroad
Starting from 31 May 2021 21:00 UTC, travel requirements for passengers arriving Turkey were updated as follows:
1. Passengers arriving from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Brazil, South Africa, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and those who have been in these countries for the last 14 days must submit a negative PCR test result taken at most 72 hours before their arrival.
These passengers are subject to quarantine for 14 days at locations determined by the governorships. At the end of 14th day, if PCR test result is negative, quarantine will be lifted. If the PCR test result is positive, they will be required to isolate another 14 days beginning from the date test result is received and the isolation will be terminated at the end of the 14th day if the PCR test is negative.
2. Passengers arriving from the United Kingdom, Iran, Egypt and Singapore will be requested to submit a negative PCR test result within the last 72 hours prior to arriving Turkey.
3. Passengers arriving from the countries other than those listed in the first and second articles, including Australia;
-who can submit a document issued by official authorities of the relevant countries stating that they have been vaccinated at least 14 days prior to arriving Turkey and/or have recovered from the disease within the last 6 months until the date of entry, are exempted from the requirement of providing a negative test result.
-who can not provide a vaccination certificate or any official documents regarding their recovery from the disease, are required to submit a negative PCR test result obtained within the last 72 hours or a negative rapid antigen test result obtained within the last 48 hours prior to their arrival.
4. Passengers arriving from the countries other than those listed in the first article, might be asked to perform a sampling based PCR test by the Ministry of Health upon their arrivals to Turkey. Passengers will be allowed to travel to their final destination after the test samples are taken. If the test results are positive, they will be taken into treatment according to the Covid-19 guidelines of the Ministry of Health.
Passengers with a positive test result and other persons they have been in close contact with will be quarantined for 14 days at the addresses they have determined, and the quarantine implementation will be lifted if the PCR test results performed at the end of the 10th day are negative. For those individuals who were found to be carrying B.1.617 Covid variant, the quarantine implementation will only be lifted, if the PCR test result performed at the end of the 14th day is negative.
5. Flight and marine crews, seamen and truck drivers described as key personnel will be exempted from PCR testing and quarantine.
6. These requirements are not applicable to international transit and/or transfer passengers.
